Unable to set the Interactive Property of the Application Class

Issue

When running a report, you are running into an error about setting the Interactive Property for the Application Class.

Symptoms

When running a Report out the following error is received:

Resolutions

Resolution 1:

  1. Please make sure that you close down Excel on the workstation. This includes all open Windows and any workbooks that you have open.
  2. This is to ensure that there are no open cells on the user sesssion
  3. Run Report

Resolution 2:

  1. Please ensure that Macro's are fully enabled on the user profile
  2. Follow the instructions in the Knowledgebase on Enabling Macro's.

Resolution 3:

To resolve this issue you will need to terminate any of these rogue Excel processes manually.
  1. Close any Excel workbooks open on your desktop
  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open up Task Manager
  3. Select the Processes tab
  4. Click on the column heading Image Name to sort the processes by name
  5. Look for any EXCEL.EXE processes which may appear in the list
  6. Select each of these processes, then click End Process
  7. The rogue Excel processes will now be terminated and removed from the Processes list
  8. Create and link your Excel workbook.
