Unable to set the Interactive Property of the Application Class
Issue
When running a report, you are running into an error about setting the Interactive Property for the Application Class.
Symptoms
When running a Report out the following error is received:
Unable to set the Interactive property of the Application class
Resolutions
Resolution 1:
- Please make sure that you close down Excel on the workstation. This includes all open Windows and any workbooks that you have open.
- This is to ensure that there are no open cells on the user sesssion
- Run Report
Resolution 2:
- Please ensure that Macro's are fully enabled on the user profile
- Follow the instructions in the Knowledgebase on Enabling Macro's.
Resolution 3:
To resolve this issue you will need to terminate any of these rogue Excel processes manually.
- Close any Excel workbooks open on your desktop
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open up Task Manager
- Select the Processes tab
- Click on the column heading Image Name to sort the processes by name
- Look for any EXCEL.EXE processes which may appear in the list
- Select each of these processes, then click End Process
- The rogue Excel processes will now be terminated and removed from the Processes list
- Create and link your Excel workbook.
