How do I create a Report Shortcut and save it for other users to run

Description:

How do I create a report shortcut and save it on local network for other Intelligence Reporting users to run. Please note: these users need to have a version of Intelligence Reporting installed to run from the shortcut.

Issue:

Client has created a report short cut for the report viewers, however when running this short cut the user gets the following error:

You don’t have access to: “c:\users\dawieC:\Pastel14\Custom\SageIntelligence\BICore.exe -LNK[C:\Users\Dawie.DJBOSMAN\AppData\Local\Sage Pastel\Sage Pastel Intelligence Reporting\Version 14\lnk_24a1bc1e-5a9d-4147-9076-000f763a0b9a.txt]”



Symptoms:

Attempting to run out the short cut as a report viewer the above error is displayed.

Cause:

When the short cut is created it is automatically created to look at the local machines c: drive, however the short cut can be saved on any machine and this causes a conflict.

Resolution:

• Right click on the Short cut

• Click on Properties

• Click on Shortcut tab

• In the target field wherever you see the C: replace that with the current computer name that you are using example:

• c:\users\dawieC:\Pastel14\Custom\SageIntelligence\BICore.exe -LNK[C:\Users\Dawie.DJBOSMAN\AppData\Local\Sage Pastel\Sage Pastel Intelligence Reporting\Version 14\lnk_24a1bc1e-5a9d-4147-9076-000f763a0b9a.txt]

• will be replaced with:

\\alchemex-srv\users\dawie \\alchemex-srv:\Pastel14\Custom\SageIntelligence\BICore.exe -LNK[\\alchemex-srv\Users\Dawie.DJBOSMAN\AppData\Local\Sage Pastel\Sage Pastel Intelligence Reporting\Version 14\lnk_24a1bc1e-5a9d-4147-9076-000f763a0b9a.txt]
